Lauren Sawyer Park Mural
PTC Arts set out with the goal of having an artist design and paint the Lauren Sawyer Park mural to help beautify and enhance the area surrounding the new Lauren Sawyer Pocket Park. The park is located near the intersection of Peachtree Corners Circle and Jones Mill Spur in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. Inspired by Lauren Sawyer and her three children, ages 7, 10, and 12, the mural was thoughtfully designed to reflect themes of family, connection, and community. The artwork, designed and painted by artist Alex Ferror, incorporates Lauren’s favorite colors, lavender and orange, alongside symbolic imagery such as butterflies and cardinals, representing hope, growth, and remembrance. A continuous flowing design ties both walls together into one cohesive mural experience, creating a welcoming and visually unified landmark for residents and visitors to enjoy.
About the artist
Alex Ferror is a Brazilian self-taught muralist, illustrator, and fine artist based in Atlanta, GA. His imagery typically is a mix of 80s/90s cartoons, Brazilian naïve art, folklore, pop-surrealism, and adventurous dreams.
Alex has participated in public art projects on at least three continents and painted in several mural festivals, collaborated with other artists, managed teams of assistants, and delivered remarkable large-scale projects. Examples of his work include “We All Are In The Same Boat” (Manchester, NH) and “Solo”.
“Solo”
Dom, the Pink Bear — one of the recurring imaginary characters in Alex Ferror’s universe—makes a solo appearance, playing your favorite song on his trumpet. He encourages visitors to use their imaginations: you can now close your eyes and hear him play your favorite melody, made especially for you.
Height: 8 ft 0 in | Width: 3 ft 4 in
Ferror's work can be seen on walls, installations, sculptures, publications, and other products in many countries worldwide, including Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, and Spain. In the U.S. Alex Ferror has painted in many cities and states, including New York, Miami, and Atlanta.
“We All Are In The Same Boat” (2024). Arts Build Community festival - Manchester, NH
Alex held two workshops with the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester (@bgcofmanchester) kids — one via Zoom and one in person—asking them, “If you had to go on a journey with your friends, what would you bring?”
Their imaginative drawings provided 90% of the mural’s elements. The remaining 10% came throughout the mural execution, with intentional or unintentional inputs from amazing local artists, volunteers, and Boys & Girls Club staff.
Every detail in this mural, from characters to objects, reflects the community’s diversity. The message? Despite our differences, WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT. Respect and unity make this journey called life better for everyone.
